the collection of shipping news remain unchanged. 1 page, 8vo, “New-York Tribune” sta-

tionery, lined paper; faint scattered staining with some touching signature; matted with

portrait and framed.

just. They were fully acquiesced in by

The Herald

, if not suggested by it. Now that paper

wants to kick up a row . . . .We beg the legislature to do nothing . . . .”

In April 1869, a Ship News Bill, supported by the

Herald

, was proposed that would autho-

rize reporters to board vessels entering NewYork Harbor for the purpose of collecting news; the

Bill was defeated.
