ENCOURAGING ATTACK ON SAXONY DURING SEVENYEARS’WAR
79
●
FRANCIS I; EMPEROR. Letter Signed, “Francois,” as Emperor, to an unnamed
recipient (“My Cousin!”), in French, conveying that Marshal Daun acknowledges having
written the recipient concerning the operations against Saxony, anticipating that the recip-
ient would soon force the army of Prince Henry to clarify the Prince’s intentions, noting
that it should not be too difficult to repel the others on the flat lands of Saxony, expecting
that the recipient’s army is already assembled including Serbelloni’s unit, and in a post-
script, expressing pleasure to learn from the recipient’s letter of the 28th that he is
proceeding. 1 page, 4to; backed, inlaid, faint scattered foxing, short closed tears at middle
left and right edges.
