A fashionable scene promoting a beach, on the
Bodensee (Lake of Constance) from which one
can see the prominent features of Lindau’s skyline,
including the towers of St. Stephan and the
Stiftskirche. Also, barely visible by the lighthouse
is the statue of the Bavarian lion located at the
entrance to the harbor.

San Sebastian was the site of numerous wars and
sieges until the late 19th century, when the royal
court of Madrid took up summer residence there.
The city soon became a popular tourist destination
and spa resort during the Belle Epoque, attracting
wealthy vacationers with a race track, casino and
golf course.
