OF APARTHEID

This “almanac,” produced and

distributed by the Lutheran Missions was basi-

cally an appointment book based on the church

and Bible readings: “Mateu,” “Duteronomi.”

The preliminary pages show the Queen of

England and the Prince of Wales and some

sort of brief history of the Cape Colony. There

follows a page for each month with what seem

to be suggested Bible readings, along with an

opposing blank page for notes, with which this

copy is filled. The native who owned this

almanac, Miyk a e li Madela (Michael Mandela,

related??) was obviously literate. He has filled

most of the pages up with notes.
