(AFRICA.) ETHIOPIA.

A rare collection of Bible Stories in Amharic

[Ge’ez] script.

Two small watercolor illustration at the beginning; followed by 198

unnumbered vellum pages, written in a tiny, but very clear hand in red and black; a few

notes of marginalia; some very old and light staining to the later leaves; remnants of the

original leather binding; sewn together. Overall leaf size: 6.5 x 6 cm.

Ethiopia, circa 18th to 19th century

[1,000/1,500]

A beautiful book, written in a miniscule hand; a “miniature book,” quite possibly meant to be carried

on one’s person, as by an itinerant preacher.
