CARRY COVER ADDRESSED TO A SOLDIER

with a typical patriotic verse printed in

blue: “Stand firmly by your cannon/ Let your ball and grapeshot fly/ Trust in God and Davis/ And

keep your powder dry.” Addressed to a soldier in camp—one has to wonder, given the constant mov-

ing of troops, if it ever arrived.
