A navigation and astronomy textbook by the controversial explorer Ferrer Maldonado, who

claimed to have discovered the Northwest Passage through the semi-mythical Strait of Anián.

The present volume was published posthumously and does not mention his voyage, but a short

chapter on the geography of America (pages 92-93) notes that from “Tierra del Labrador, y alli

embocando por su estrecho, corre al Oessudueste, hasta el estrecho de Anian, adonde torna a

entrar en el mar del Sur.” European Americana 626/50; Medina, BHA 812; Palau 90524

(“libro interesante y buscado”); Sabin 44108. None sold at auction since 1962.
