“Photographs,” with a total of 98 pictures; 30
depicting a mustachioed man apparently “trying
on” different identities in photographers’
studios. The unidentified subject is dressed in
various outfits, including a successful gentleman
in businessman’s attire, tuxedos, colorful ethnic
costumes, swimming costumes (an early Speedo),
and a man of leisure (who’s enjoying a cigar);
also includes poetic studies of children,
confirmation portraits, other family members,
and smiling parents with infants. Silver prints,

C.F. Conly of Boston, 2 albums by Borgfeldt of
Brooklyn, and an album of combined portraits;
with the photographers’ imprints on mounts

(one) gilt-decorated morocco, raised bands on
spines, sunned; all edges gilt. Circa 1900
