Mount was recruited by the Ministry of Information in 1939 and designed posters during the Second
World War. While working for the Ministry he met Eileen Evans who became his design partner
through the 1960s. The British National Archives refers to their work together as “neat and precise
designs for a variety of government agencies.” Here, in the prevailing trend of photomontage and
surrealism which was spearheaded by artists like Abram Games, Mount makes a visual plea for citizens
to save their bone scraps for war work. IWM PST 14693.
