Nathan was a product of the French Art Deco school of the 1930s, and was a member of the UAM
(Union des Artistes Modernes) alongside such important artists as Cassandre, Carlu, Loupot, and
Colin. Nathan was encouraged by Carlu to do the posters for l’Habitation, a section of the huge Salon
des Arts Menagers. After the Second World War he developed his own personal style. Among his
clients were firms that produced household and domestic appliances.
Mazda
was one of his first major
clients and he worked with them from 1938 through the 1960s.
