British-born Peter Gee came to America in 1962 and quickly became a prominent Pop Artist. He was

active within the commercial world; he designed posters for major clients such as Merrill Lynch and

also had a long-time association with the fashion designer Betsy Johnson. He worked extensively with

color theory and taught color workshops at School of Visual Arts in New York, the Rhode Island

School of Design and at the Harvard School of Architecture. Perhaps the pinnacle of his artistic career

was when his work was included in the 1968

Word and Image

poster exhibition at New York’s Museum

of Modern Art, alongside such other luminaries as Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana and Roy Lichtenstein.
