FIRST AMERICAN EDITION OF THIS BIOGRAPHY OF THE PROPHET MOHAMED
extracted
from Edward Gibbon’s massive “Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.” While not common
to the plantation, there were a number of known instances of Islam among slaves in the deep
South. See Allan D. Austin’s African Muslims in Ante-Bellum America (Routledge, 1997).

A SCARCE POSTER FOR THE FIRST MALCOLM X FILM
.
Written and directed by Arnold
Pearl with the assistance of Alex Haley who wrote the “Autobiography”. James Earl Jones,
Ossie Davis and a host of cameos who were actually a part of Malcolm’s life could not save this
film from almost instant obscurity. Mostly a string of episodes bolstered by documentary footage.
