(ERITREA—AFRICA)
An album with more than 260 extraordinary photographs of Italian Eritrea titled
Fondazione dell’Impero Anno IX Maggio XIV
.
The elegant photographs were apparently shot by S.A. Crimella, and include stunning portraits,
landscapes, architectural studies, and several panoramas. The sensitive and detailed images show
hunters with their game; families posed at their dwellings and in villages; some European architecture
(including aqueducts); men and women at work; images that appear to show ritual; others that
highlight modes of dress and style; as well as intimate, brilliant portraits of individuals. The album
reflects articulate, careful pacing and structure. Silver prints, the images measuring 4
