(VERNACULAR FAMILY)

A pair of albums with more than 1000 photographs by Frank and Kitty Brust documenting

their many day trips and life together, and Frank’s business.

The Scranton, Pennsylvania couple are shown taking trips and weekend adventures in Pennsylvania

and New Jersey, including bucolic country scenes, river and lake views, city gatherings, and even

flying an airplane.The album documents their social circle in a series of sensitive portraits, and also

includes a series of compelling office portraits from Mr. Brust’s Dental Company, which specialized

in making dentures: the office employees (as well as colleagues in the business) are composed in

arty setups behind a bank of drawers or at their desks. Silver prints, the images measuring 4

all with either a typed caption or a handwritten identification below the image (some with dates).
