In the United States, the movie studios largely produced anonymous posters to promote their films.

The French, on the other hand, employed recognized poster artists to promote the films that they

distributed. René Péron was one of the leading figures of French film poster design, and over the

course of his 50-year career, designed more than 2,000 posters.
