Signed, “LeopoldI,” to “the knights and

nobles of the Sechsorth in Franconia,” in

German, accepting a charitable payment

of 20,000 gulden, requesting that they

write off the court chancellery bill from

last winter quarter, and assuring them that

their freedoms and rights will remain

undiminished into the indefinite future. 2

pages, folio, with integral address leaf; cello

tape repairs along center vertical fold with

minor loss to text, faint scattered foxing,

seal mostly intact.

. . . In light of the circumstances you described,

we do not intend to press for a greater cash con-

tribution at this time, in the confidence that in

addition to remitting the above sum, you will

also write off the bill to our court chancellery

from the last winter quarter, out of faithfully

obedient devotion. . . .”
