A scarce and desirable group of Confederate-themed postal covers, created in the Northeast for collec-

tors. Patriotic covers were widely collected during the Civil War. Then as now, true Confederate covers

were rare. Because of the situation, combined with the scarcity of paper in the South, northern station-

ary printers like Magnum and others began early on to produce covers like these. In some cases, actual

Confederate covers were copied.
