An uncommon booklet from a group of
Southern women concerned about the number
of lynchings that had been on the rise once
again. The front cover shows a map of the U.S.
with a figure stating that in 1937 there were 8
lynchings versus 16 prevented. How this feat
was accomplished, and an account of all of the
lynchings by state is provided.

Dan Butler (1879-1953), Omaha political
figure, mayor and the subject of this broadside
was voted out of office in 1945, after more
than a quarter century of Omaha politics.
Butler was defeated by Charles Leeman who
was able to garner the Negro vote, after an inci-
dent in which a policeman kicked and beat a
colored woman.
