This oil painting is a fine example of international artist Peter Wayne Lewis’ gestural abstraction.
Lewis’ abstract idiom reflects his diverse interests in science, improvisation, spiritualism and jazz.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Lewis’ family immigrated to the USA in 1962 and made their home in
Sacramento, CA. He received his Masters of Arts Degree in painting in 1979 from San Jose State
University California. Lewis exhibits his work in both NewYork and Beijing, in addition to serving
as the chairman of the Fine Arts department and a printmaking and painting professor at
Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston.
