Sam Gilliam made a series of acrylic and polypropylene three dimensional paintings on birch plywood
constructions in the late 1990s. In 1998, the artist showed many of these in
Solo Exhibition: Gilliam
in 3-D
at the Kreeger Museum,Washington, DC. Other larger examples from this year can be found
in the collections of Smith College, Northhampton, MA, the University of Michigan Business
School and the Department of Veteran Affairs, Philadelphia.
