Condition B+ / B: repaired tears at edges and in image; creases, abrasions and restoration along vertical and
horizontal folds and in image; writing on verso is visible in upper image.
The only thing known about Henri Biais is that he was a member of the
Syndicat des Dessinateurs
Publicitaires
, founded by Paul Colin in 1933. His legacy is a handful of intriguing Art Deco posters
designed in the mid-1930s. Advertising a radio popular during this time, this poster features a bird
singing on top of a megaphone shaped out of the letters of the brand name, “Echo.” A simple and
charming image that is obviously meant to suggest that Echo radios produce sounds as clean and clear
as nature itself.
