7x5 inches, full margins. Fifth state (of 9). One of only 2 or 3 lifetime impressions in this
state, from a total of approximately 23 lifetime impressions in all 9 states. Inscribed “6e
etat” (crossed out in ink) and “5e etat” in pencil, lower left. Ex-collection Henri M. Petiet,
Paris, with his ink stamp verso (see Lugt 2021a).A brilliant, dark and richly-inked proof-
like impression with stray printer’s ink marks in the margins.
Pissarro also made a watercolor of this subject, which is now in the Ashmolean Museum,
Oxford. Delteil 116.
