This mid-century modern painting by Felrath Hines is the largest painting by this abstract artist to

be offered at auction. Felrath Hines achieved critical recognition for his painterly abstraction of nature

with two solo exhibitions at Parma Gallery in 1957 and 1959, and his inclusion in group exhibitions

at the John Heller Gallery and Parma Gallery in NewYork in the 1950s. He was a founding member

of the Spiral Group in 1963, and had a long career as a museum painting conservator.
