A fun little piece of network ephemera.The “Laramie Peacock” was the second, kaleidoscopically col-

ored version of NBC’s famous logo named after the series which introduced it in 1962.The previous,

original version was designed in 1956 by John J. Graham and called, simply “the bird” by NBC. It

was introduced to reflect the network’s increased color programming and to encourage sales of RCA’s

color television sets but quickly became the visual trademark of the network.
