Clark was a prolific illustrator for murals, books,
and magazines including Saturday Evening Post,
McCall’s, and Liberty. An admirer of Frederic
Remington, he was primarily an illustrator of the
West and many of his works include horses, his
favorite subject, as in this canvas.
