Gifford Beal (1879-1956) was a prominent American painter who exhibited two paintings
in the Armory Show. Beal studied under William Merritt Chase and was also greatly
influenced by Childe Hassam.After taking classes of Impressionist painting at the Art Students
League, Beal served as its president from 1914 to 1929. Beal’s
