A 1909 announcement of Orville Wright’s flying exhibition over Tempelhof Field in Berlin. The bold
poster features a prominent image of the Wright’s Model A biplane (the plane is pictured flying from
left to right). The simple text of the poster merely explains that the Wrights would be appearing at
Tempelhof Field and that the details were available in the
Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger
newspaper. In fact
it was only Orville Wright touring for this demonstration, and he stayed in Germany from August
through September. The historical record is a little vague but it seems that between September 4th and
the 18th Orville made 19 flights over Tempelhof. The plane in which he flew now resides in the Deutsches
Museum in Munich, and is the only original Model A to survive. l’Histoire de l’Aviation p. 20, Perier
p. 12, FAI 119.
