Handley Page, founded in 1909, was one of Britain’s first aircraft manufacturing companies. They
produced bombers for the country during the First World War. After the war in 1919, Handley Page
Transport was founded. It was a commercial airline which flew passengers between London and Paris
using the company’s converted model 0/400 bombers. In 1924, Handley Page Transport merged with
other companies to form Imperial Airways.
