NUMBERED SETS
.
A handsomely bound set of the unrecorded
Emperor Edition. Though called for on the limitation page, this set lacking the editor’s signa-
ture. Neither OCLC nor ABPC records like examples and it’s conceivable that the 100 sets
were never fully realized due to the outbreak of the First World War. The editor’s note in the
final volume states: “The European War, unfortunately, has prevented us from making the
selections from contemporary German painting in volumes XIX and XX...” In a fine state of
preservation, bright and attractive.
