Welcoming the New Decade: A Letter from Swann Galleries’ President, Nicholas D. Lowry As a new decade dawns, I am reminded that in order to move ahead Swann must continuously look into the historical rearview mirror and select the best material from bygone years to feed the fascinating and voracious collecting appetites of our clientele. We are privileged to be able to do this across numerous fields. This season will see works from the Johnson Publishing Company’s extraordinary private collection African-American fine art, as well as our second installment of LGBTQ+ Art, Material Culture and History. We will have two offerings of Fine Books & Manuscripts, in February and June, in addition to specialized sales throughout the season for Americana, posters, photographs, prints, maps and atlases, illustration and contemporary art. I am also delighted to announce Devon Eastland as our new specialist in Early Printed Books. Please join us in welcoming her to Swann. And while we find inspiration in the past, we also keep an eye on the future. In the last year we saw more than 1,000 bidders on the Swann App, which helps keep our clients connected.
