Antonakos (1926-2013) created four artist books during his career, and strived to keep his readers engaged and moving from page to page. In BOOK, Antonakos created an interactive journey for the reader, who is encouraged to follow instructions, and in turn, take part in creating a transformed work of art. The concept of BOOK began while Antonakos was completing an artist residency in Berlin in 1980 and was not completed until 1985 while Antonakos was in New York.
