Red chalk on cream wove paper mounted on illustration board, 1937. 487x705 mm; 19 1/4x28 inches. Signed, titled and dated in pencil, lower right recto. With the artist's reproduction rights ink stamp on the illustration board verso.
Provenance: Private collection, Chicago.
Curry (1897-1946) likely made this drawing of the University of Wisconsin Badgers football team. He served as an artist-in-residence at the university, Madison, Wisconsin, between 1936 and 1946. Curry also made two football lithographs, Football Game or Off Tackle and End Run, Cole 29 and 30, in 1938, the latter lithograph with a similar composition though in reverse of the current drawing.
