Several similar compositions, of Italian pastoral landscapes from the mid-1920s, are in public collections, including at The Museum of Modern Art (30.1934) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (31.67.3), New York.

Davies (1862-1928) began traveling annually to Italy in the 1920s, focusing primarily on scenes of the Northern Italian countryside.
