Six separate polychrome hand-colored engravings mounted on card; five with backgrounds cut out by hand creating a three-dimensional effect when viewed together, the last card left whole to form a sold backdrop for the scene, the final two cards numbered 5 and 6 in the engraving; depicting the shepherd with his sheep accompanied by many other figures in the landscape: ladies and men in the enjoying the forest, strolling, playing musical instruments, talking together, and other peaceful bucolic pursuits; with hand-applied contemporary color, titled in mansucript on an accompanying partial wrapper in French, "Le berger promenant ses mountons"; each 5 1/2 x 3 5/8 in.
