A group of 30 press photographs documenting the bloody culmination of the Tiananmen Square demonstrations in Beijing.
The series depicts the events of June 3-5, showing student protestors, hurt individuals, tanks, soldiers sitting in the square, barricades, captured tanks, and more from the clashes between pro-democracy youths and the People's Liberation Army. A few from Reuters and the remainder from the Agence France-Presse (AFP); two of the photographs show concurrent protests in Chicago. Wire service press photos, the images measuring 4 3/8 x7 to 9¼x6¼ inches (11.1x17.8 to 23.5x15.9 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, each with a caption in the image. 1989
