A group of 200 mug shots depicting women picked up in Philadelphia for offences including illegal lotteries, bookmaking, and being a proprietor of a gambling house.
The women ranging in age from their early 20s to their late 50s; the majority of the women are African American. Silver prints, the images measuring 3½x4½ inches (8.9x11.4 cm.), each with a "Criminal Identification Unit Police Department Phila., Penn." hand stamp, and nearly all with the typed subject's name, address, crime, and identifying characteristics, on verso, in a contemporary binder. 1959-64
