A rare, handmade personal album of 27 Parisian photographs.
A charming and special album of photographs by van der Elsken, compiled and bound by the photographer. The booklet exhibits the cinematic style van der Elsken is known for as well as his skills in the creation of photographic books. The photographs including street scenes, depictions of everyday life, and portraits of family and friends, including Dutch photographers Emmy Andriesse and Ata Kando, taken while he was living in Paris. Silver prints, the images measuring 5¼ inches (13.3 cm.) square, mounted recto/verso, with van der Elsken's credit and date in ink, in Ata Kando's handwriting, on the back cover. 12mo, transparent plastic covers; spiral binding. Circa 1951
