"A Tribute to Count Basie." Promotional illustration for the same-titled concert at Philharmonic Hall on May 20, published in Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts Calendar April/May/June 1966. Pen, ink, and ink wash on paper adhered to board. 245x430 mm; 9 3/4x17 inches, on 10 1/4x18-inch sheet. Signed "Milton Glaser" in upper left image, with Push Pin Studios label on verso.
Condition:
Glaser's brush strokes are nicely visible within the image, seen facing directly, but even more clearly through raking light.
Paper is moderately and slightly unevenly toned and has mild matte burn along edges from previous framing. Mild, overall wrinkling, mostly due to dried adhesive glue used to attach it to original Push Pin backing board but also partly due to the richness of the artist's ink.
Backing glue mostly dry, leaving artwork mostly loose, but still lightly adhered in a few areas on verso and also partly attached by tape aong top edge.
