León y Gama, Mexican astronomer, anthropologist, and scientist, famously published a work on the 54,000 pound Aztec sun stone found in Mexico City in 1790, arguing for its importance and preservation. In the present essay, on the treatment of tumors, he argues in favor of the use of wall lizards, the Largartijas of the title, as a cure for cancer.
