First edition, quarto, (.ยท.)4, A-Z4, Aa-Ff4, a-x4 (x4 blank & present) title printed in red and black with woodcut Jesuit emblem, ex library, with rubber stamp to title, text in roman letter in two columns throughout, modern full leather binding, paper browned and somewhat weak, with neat lightweight Japanese tissue repairs here and there throughout, 7 3/4 x 6 1/4 in.
This rare work contains works of canon law as regards demonology and Catholic exorcism. In addition to Torre's work, it includes contributions by Adam Tanner (1572-1632), Paul Laymann (1574-1632), and Marco Antonio Pellegrini (1530-1616). The topic of the treatment of women accused of witchcraft comes up repeatedly throughout the texts.
