Two large folio volumes, first title page printed in red and black, added engraved title in first volume; half-title in second volume; lavishly illustrated throughout with copperplate text engravings by Philip à Gunst (1685-1732), Jacob Folkema (1692-1767), and others (some unsigned); text printed in parallel columns in Latin and English, three leaves extraneous to collation each with two engravings in second volume; ex libris Theodore C. Tebbetts, with his bookplate after F. Carruthers Gould, showing the owner riding on horseback while reading; two leaves at the very end of the second volume torn with loss of bottom blank corners and a word or two; original full leather, spines tooled elaborately in gilt; some boards detached, endcaps and corners rather worn, contents bright and fresh, 18 x 11 3/4 in.
