PAUL CADMUS (1904 - 1999)
Kneeling Male Nude.
Conté crayon on gray wove paper. 473x323 mm; 18 5/8x12 3/4 inches. Signed in white crayon, upper right recto. Circa 1965.
Cadmus drew from male nude models throughout his career up until his death. His nude drawings, like the art of Ancient Greece, portray the ideal male form, glorifying the body. Though highlighting strength, these drawings also portray human vulnerability as these men are literally laid bare.
Provenance: Estate of the artist; Estate of Jon Anderson (Cadmus' executor), Weston, Connecticut; private collection, New York.
Estimate: $ 3,000 - $ 5,000
