Manuscript in French, Cosmography, Astronomy. Traité de la Sphere. Quarto format manuscript on paper, presented in two parts, 101 numbered pages of text and twenty-two hand-drawn and colored folding diagrams, text in brown ink, in a neat secretarial hand, twenty lines per page, blank margins defined by folds; bound in full contemporary green parchment over stiff boards, marbled endleaves, with spine label, ex libris Jannart de Medemanche, who served as an officer with the Regiment Royal-Comtois, 10 x 7 1/2 in. France, 18th century.
Unidentified manuscript includes chapters on the movements of the fixed stars, a list of constellations, the movements of the sun and moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, eclipses of the sun and moon, and Ptolemy, Copernicus, and Brahe's, systems of the universe, all hand-illustrated in color. The second part of the text is concerned with geography and its illustrations include a neatly drawn and colored globe with a map of the Eastern Hemisphere.
