Palladio, Andrea (1518-1580) L'Architettura Divisa in Quattro Libri. Folio, [pi]1, B-F4, G1, G4, (lacking G2 & G3), H-I4, AA-KK4, AAA6, BBB-EEE4, 4A-4Q4, 4R3; engraved title page trimmed and mounted; illustrated with woodcut diagrams throughout, sixteen leaves cut out along the gutter and re-inserted; bound in full English calf, 18th century, with gilt-tooled arms of Richard Boyle, Earl of Burlington (1694-1753), an Anglo-Irish architect who brought Palladian architecture to Britain and Ireland, with signed note of presentation in the hand of the recipient, Henry Flitcroft (1697-1769), a major English architect in the second British generation of Palladianism and protégé of Burlington, with Burlington's red morocco gilt tooled library label on spine and printed shelf label pasted inside front board; both boards detached, binding worn, with amateurish older repairs, and several notes on the text in pen ca. 1902 on preliminaries, 12 3/4 x 8 3/4 in.
