Caballeros Farfanes de los Godos, Manuscript on Paper, Spain. Folio format manuscript on laid paper, eighteen leaves, illustrated with four full-paged ink and wash drawings, depicting: a coat of arms, a knight in armor on horseback, a King in a carriage drawn by two lions, and an angel (some paper damage affecting the coat of arms most seriously due to ink etching); text in Spanish in a neat secretarial hand, italic and roman lettering, in brown and black ink; stab sewn without covering materials; 12 x 8 in. Spain, 17th century.
The text includes historical notes regarding Roderic, the Visigothic king of Hispania in the sixth century. It also includes a grant of privilege by Henry III of Castile (Don Enrique) to fifteen Farfanes Knights.
