Suite of 22 photographs from Egypt and Palestine, Volumes I and II, comprising 13 of Palestine and 9 of Egypt. Albumen prints, the images measuring approximately 6¼x9¼ inches (15.9x23.5 cm.), and the reverse, the mounts approximately 12x17 inches (30.5x43.2 cm.), each with Frith's credit, and most with a numerical notation and/or date, in the negative, all with printed titles and 20 with Frith's printed credit and date, on mount recto; with the title page for Volume II. 1858-60

Condition Report:
Frith's photographs from "Egypt and Palestine, Volumes I and II," are disbound. Each print lacks borders, is adhered to the original letterpress sheets with a credit, date and title,
and is in good to very good condition. Nine of the photographs are individually matted.
Some of the mounts are gently rippled, and most have light soiling and faint age darkening at edges. The title page is disbound, chipped, torn and soiled.

Print has a range of deep brown tones. Diagonal mounting crease in lower left corner.

Print is in fair condition with light tones and pale yellow highlights.
Mount is visibly age darkened.

Print has a lovely range of deep brown-purple tones. Mount has spots of foxing in left margin

Print in good condition with a range of brown tones and cremely highlights.

Print in very good condition with plum tones and cremey highlights.

Print in good condition with consistent plum tones but a faint stain in the sky.

A beautiful rich print. Creases in lower right corner of mount and stain in left margin.
The Tyropean Valley
Print is rich and lustrous. Mount has a large semi-circular stain in left margin and is rippled and creaesd.
Early Morning at Wady Kardassy, Nubia
Print is light. Mount has a large semi-circular stain at topn and is rippled, with loss in the lower left corner.
Damascus
Stunning rich print. Mount has a large semi-circular stain in left margin and is rippled, with crease and loss in lower right corner.
Convent of Mar-Saba, Near Jerusalem
Print is good. with stain in left margin.
The Mosque of Omar, &o, Jerusalem
Print in good conditoin. Soiling, rippling and stain in left margin.
The Great Pillars, &o, Baalbec
Print is good with vertical strips in lower left (defects in the negative). Stain in upper margin of mount.
City Wall and Mosque of Omar, &o, Jerusalem
Print is very good with stains along left margin. Loss in lower right corner of mount and rippling.
The Great Pillars and Smaller Temple, Baalbec
Light print with stains in upper margin, extending into the print.
The Broken Obelisk, Karnac
A light print. Mount is stained at right margin and chipped along the lower edge.
Bethany
A light print. Loss in lower right corner of mount and stain in left margin.
