A group of 19 photographs of Tahiti's indigenous peoples and the tropical landscape, some depicting other islands.
The photographs depict lush palm tree forests, the homes and markets of indigenous peoples, and sweeping bird's-eye views of island coasts. Most depicting Tahiti, with a quarter of the photographs featuring Raiatea and other islands, including New Caledonia, Madeira, and Martinique. Albumen prints, the images measuring 4½x6½ to 7¼x9 inches (11.4x16.5 to 18.4x22.9 cm.), and the reverse, the mounts 11x14½ inches (27.9x36.8 cm.), all with locations, descriptions, and numerical notations, in ink or pencil, and approximately half with dates, in ink, on mount recto. 1888
