Martin Sharp founded
OZ
magazine in Australia in 1963 and soon ran afoul of the censors. After
being arrested there for obscenity, he moved to England where he became friendly with Eric Clapton.
With his foot firmly in the door of the music world, Sharp went on to design album covers, band
posters and posters addressing various social issues (cannabis, sex, love) while simultaneously
publishing a British version of
OZ
