Group of 22 large-format photographs from various NASA missions, including scenes
of astronauts floating in space and multiple topographic views of the Earth.
With breathtaking iconic images of astronauts Bruce McCandless, Buzz Aldrin, Charles Duke, and
Ed White as they traversed through space, taken during Gemini IV, Apollo 11, Skylab 3, and STS-
41-B (a Space Shuttle Challenger mission), among others, as well as an array of painterly and abstract
topographical views of the Earth, as witnessed from beyond its atmosphere. Ilfochrome prints, the

many with numeric notations, in pencil and ink, and a few with a printed by David Travis 1985

WITH—A group of 8 other lunar photographs. Including 2 images of astronauts, a lunar landscape
in which the rover’s tracks can be seen, a view of Earth, and an image of a spacecraft. Cibachrome
prints, the images measuring 12x19 inches (30.5x48.3 cm.), 3 are duplicates.
This remarkable gathering of 30 prints was selected from NASA’s Archives by Barbara Hitchcock and
Peter Riva.The agency’s astronauts approved the images noting that these photographs had never before
been published by the space agency and are the only Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) prints made from
original positives.The pictures were part of an exhibit entitled “Sightseeing;A Space Panorama,”which
opened at the Air & Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, in 1985, and has toured 65 institutions
worldwide and been seen by more than by six million visitors.
