left. A brilliant impression of this exceedingly scarce etching with warm plate tone and

strong contrasts, with the selective wiping strokes in the water.

MacDonald cites only 12 known impressions of this etching. The current impression is

similar to the impression “with soft graduated tone” now at the Colby College Museum

of Art,Waterville, ME (formerly in the collection of Mortimer Menpes, London). Kennedy

242; Glasgow 259.
